MiraCosta College has made a commitment to creating a racially just campus and to welcome, nurture, and validate individuals and their identities and diverse cultures as it evidenced in the college Commitment Statement and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Statement (BP 3400). We pride ourselves in centering our work on inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility and view accessibility as not just compliance with regulations, laws and policies but also as an important equity-minded practice. Our goal is to ensure that our campus is accessible to our college community.
The Accessibility Workgroup was formed in Fall 2023 under the Office of IDEA and is made up of individuals from multiple divisions and departments across the college. We meet on a monthly basis to discuss strategies around two workgroup goals: to increase campus-wide awareness and understanding of accessibility and to develop a campus-wide accessibility plan that connects to current planning and work across the college.
